VFL Cats Go Down But Have Second Chance

I watched this game for a few minutes, but was hungover and really really hate Phil Cleary and if I heard him shit on about Sauntner anymore or how we had 'x' of AFL players more than them I was going to puke so here is a report somebody that isn't me wrote:

Cats down in first VFL final

Geelong’s VFL finals campaign has kicked off with a 21 point loss to Sandringham at Port Melbourne on Saturday.

In a contest that was tight all day, Sandringham was able to extend its lead at each change to progress directly to the preliminary final. The Cats will face the winner of the North Ballarat – Werribee clash in a knock out semi final next week.

Kent Kingsley booted four goals for Geelong while Henry Playfair, Charlie Gardiner and Jay Cheep each added two.

Sandringham led by six points at quarter time, 13 at half time and 19 at three quarter time before claiming the win.

The third quarter was tight throughout, with the Cats closing to within one point, however two goals deep in time on saw the Zebras move to what was ultimately a match winning edge.

Sandringham: 20.16 (136)
Geelong: 17.13 (115)

Goals: Kingsley 4, Gardiner, Playfair, Cheep 2, Blake, Varcoe, McCarthy, Stokes, Byrne, Cook, Tenace 1.

Geelong play North Ballarat @ TEAC Oval on Sunday 1:10pm
