There is the wrong way, the right way and the Max Rooke way.... oh and the Kolonel is back!!

A once broken man gets a fresh start and a once credible blog gets less credible. Yes, that’s right Ladies and Gents The Kolonel is back!! The Doctor says I am finally nearing full recovery after a rocky 6 months of life after the departure of one Kent Kingsley.

However I found alcohol, cigarettes and gambling to be most suitable anti-biotics and it is one of these that bring about my return to Geelongblog.com. Just like Ron Burgundy I have found myself warming the seats of dingy backstreet venues knocking back pots at will to ward away any sense of reality. But then I realised, why waste money throw up and be sad, when I can just win money and be sad? So I started gambling.

What started as a humorous past time has now become an elaborate plot of cunning and strategy that becomes more deviant the more time I spend doing it. Slapping a few bucks here and there is a way to make games not involving Geelong or Kent that little bit more interesting.

Anywho, as a means of re-introducing myself into the big bad world, Sammy D has been kind enough to give me a small weekly segment focusing on betting on the footy. Pretty simple really; Kolonel, the godlike genius gives devoted Geelong blog fans a ‘lock of the week’ which they put their hard earned on and win big…Too easy.

Lock of the week;
Each week I’ll give you my lock. A ‘lock’ Is my sure bet which I guarantee to come good* kolonel will not actually guarantee lock to come good every week, It is just…. Likely to happen.

Unlocked of the week;
I’ll also give a few bets that carry the big odds, but also a big chance, these are the ones we love to come in, so we ride them hard like a $2 hooker.

This week sees the second half of the split round so we only have 3 games to play with, 2 of which include sides heavily favoured to win in West Coast ($1.10 odds) and Melbourne ($1.35). Although they are sitting right down the bottom of the ladder, the Dees are sure things against the Tigers and will win the Kolonel a lot of money against teams in the later half of the season, believe you me they will win more than they lose and run close to sneaking into the eight.

The West Coast face St. Kilda at Subiaco, who could be worth slapping 10 bucks on given it will be Robert Harveys 300th match. Under 39.5 they will be around the $6 mark. Stranger things have happened than that before.

Collingwood are the value of the round, but don’t get a gig as my lock of the week. Nothing does because both Melbourne and West Coast don’t give enough value. Paying $2.65 for a straight win will see them around 3 bucks for a win under 39.5, which is where I will be putting my money. The Swans tough flooding football will see the margin close in this one, and despite losing to the Demons (who are traveling better at the minute than their position suggests) The Pies should do ok against the Swans. They wont be worried by the leg speed of the Swans midfield which has generally seen players like Holland and O’Bree come into the contest a bit more.

Kolonels Bets; $20 on Collingwood under 39.5. current total = $0
