Geelong has rolled to it's 14th straight victory with a comfortable win against the visiting Adelaide Crows & in the process guaranteed the McClelland trophy (the what?) will make its way to Skilled Stadium for the first time since 1992.

Geelong kicking with a slight breeze in the first quarter leaped out to a 5 goals to 1 lead thanks to Jimmy Bartel who booted 2 in the opening stanza & the Abletts who added another two between them.

The Crows, with their season on the line responded in the 2nd quarter holding the Cats goaless until the dying seconds of the quarter when Matty Scarlett ran forward and slotted through only moments before the half time siren. It was a morale crusher for the injury ravaged Crows who had battled hard to bring themselves back into the contest, getting as close as 9 points in arrears.

Geelong had lacked a forward presence all day until Cameron Mooney took it upon himself to lift the side in the 3rd quarter. He managed only 1 goal for the quarter but managed 2-3 goal assists including a brilliant kick off the ground in the pocket which found Joel Selwood 15m out directly in front. It was a magic 5 minute period from the big man that all but put the result beyond doubt.

Both sides managed 4 goals each in a last quarter that petered out pretty tamely, not that Geelong would be complaining.

Jimmy Bartel was back to his early season form with 35 touches & 2 goals, Joel Corey & Joel Selwood were also massive in the midfield for the league leaders. While down back the work of Matty Scarlett, Tom Harley, Matthew Egan & Darren Milburn was worth noting.
