Trade Talk Day 3 – Mumford Gone

Written By: Catman Forever on October 7, 2009 One Comment

Geelong ruckman Shane Mumford is ready to sign at Sydney after declaring he is up for the move. It is just a matter of working out the appropriate draft pick with the Cats pressing for a third-rounder. Sydney have offered Mumford $1million over 3 years.

Geelong is interested in North Melbourne’s talented but injury-prone defender Jess Smith, who has been offered a one-year contract by the Kangaroos. Balme was seen leaving Arden St with Smiths XRAYs in hand. This deal looks almost certain to go through. Smith is seen as a replacement for Tom Harley.

BigFooty Kangaroos poster __aria__ tells us that Smith is 192cm but definitely a rebounding defender although hes very good defensively with blistering pace, great evasive ability, a massive and accurate kick, and courageous as they come. Smith just loves taking them on and maybe gets caught every now and then because of that.

The Cats have also shown some interest in Fremantle’s Marcus Drum. But nothing has been released about any negotiations yet.

Well if Sydney are offering close to a million for Mumford means they think very highly of him why would we settle for pick 36 when Sydney have 6,14 and 22. It seems we are becoming a bit of soft target when it comes to trades we dont end up with much of anything. And by the way I would have chosen Mumford over Blake any day just because he can do more around the ground that Blake doesn’t and probably never will.
