Nathan Ablett to the Gold Coast
Nathan Ablett is reportedly close to signing a deal to join the Gold Coast, after holding talks with the club in recent weeks.
Gold Coast recruiting manager Scott Clayton has told SEN Ablett appeared to be very interested in signing up, but is unsure where those talks have progressed today.
Clayton said Ablett has spoken to the coaches, and is considering making his AFL return.
Ablett has been playing for the Broadbeach Cats in the QAFL since leaving Geelong after the 2007 premiership.
Should Ablett agree to play for the Gold Coast, the club will be able to sign him without having him enter the draft, because he has been out of the system for three years.
Also, the Gold Coast will not have to offer Ablett a contract, given the club will only be playing in the VFL next season.
It is believed Ablett is close to agreeing to the deal today.
